Each chapter in this book suggests readings, followed by H5P activities to practice the concepts. Marketing Moments provides insights into current research and the development and application of the concepts to current situations and business environments.

“I’m really excited to learn more about marketing and see how I can use it in the real world!”

Dr. Biggi Weischedel, an Open Learning Faculty Member with extensive experience in Marketing and Management education across different countries, recognized a significant gap in accessible marketing resources for non-students, such as friends, business owners, and community members. Many desired to learn more about marketing out of personal interest and to improve their own businesses and sales. However, they faced barriers posed by expensive resources. Dr. Weischedel felt compelled to take action!

“Instead of signing up for expensive courses, we thought it better to create an engaging OER that teaches anybody the concepts of Marketing. Strategies, theories, concepts, both traditional and new-technology approaches, just a good overview of the topic.” Biggi Weischedel

Dr. Weischedel’s book, Marketing Moments, fills the gap as it offers high-quality marketing education that is accessible to anyone. It was published as an open education resource (OER) using Pressbooks, an online platform used to create, edit, and publish digital books, including textbooks and educational resources. The TRU Open Press provided copy editing, proofreading, and ongoing technical support. The book includes concepts of traditional and new-technology marketing, strategies, and theories. It also features interactive practice activities that help learners engage with and easily grasp the key concepts.

Marketing Moments highlights the importance of freely accessible marketing education. It not only meets the needs of business owners seeking to grow their businesses, but it is also valuable for students who are new to marketing education, others who need a refresher for their higher-level courses, and educators, too. Looking ahead, Dr. Weischedel enjoys developing OERs and would like to develop more OERs in other topics and areas using a more engaging interactive format that includes activities and practice exercises. In addition, Dr. Weischedel’s project lays the groundwork for future OER development in Marketing. It demonstrates how these resources foster inclusivity and create effective learning environments that empower both academic and career success.
