Description:
Phase II of Introduction to Ethics: Thinking Through a Moral Life builds upon the comprehensive foundation established in Phase I, which brought together diverse sources—including Noah Levin’s Introduction to Ethics: An Open Educational Resource, Dr. Jeff McLaughlin’s he Originals: Classic Readings in Western Philosophy, and classic texts such as Herodotus—alongside Ethics Bowl Canada case studies to provide real-world ethical scenarios. In this second phase, the project expands to include a broader range of diverse voices, emphasizing Indigenous authors and perspectives not typically featured in traditional philosophy textbooks. These voices are integrated throughout the resource as central contributors to the ethical discourse, rather than supplementary additions. While the inclusion of permissioned content introduces some limitations on adaptability for this OER, the authors believe this approach will greatly enhance the resource’s usability, reach, and impact, particularly among scholars committed to advancing and centering marginalized perspectives in philosophy and ethics education.
